In June 2004, the European research center “Global Research” in Garching was opened. The decision for this location illustrates the high quality of the location Garching as a campus and research center. The outstanding infrastructure as well as the unique combination of research institutes and campus were the decisive factor for GE’s decision. Up to 150 scientists do research in the areas of medical engineering, new materials and renewable energies, automotive and materials research.
In total, GE has four international research centers: Schenectady (State of New York, USA), Bangalore (India) as well as Shanghai (China) and Garching near Munich.
