Garching – “A Booming University Town”
- that’s the motto for promoting economic development. The basic conditions for creating synergy effects among corporations and institutions of the campus and research center (please see “Research Institutes”) are decisive for the future development of Garching as an economic location.
The campus is the heart of all scientific departments of the Technical University Munich. The departments of mechanical engineering, computer sciences, mathematics, physics and chemistry have about 9,000 students. The other research facilities that are internationally renowned – among them four Max Planck Institutes and the ESO – complete the wide and extensive range. The unique combination of fundamental research and applied research guarantee future-oriented and innovative development trends.
